The History of Super Skater

In 1996, I bought some used skates at the Salvation Army in Somerville, MA. I was in college at the time and had to lug all of my purchases way back to my dorm in Cambridge (no car). The skates were HEAVY so I put them on and skated down the hills in Somerville completely out of control. When I saw a shuttle bus that would take me back to my dorm, I hopped on -- skates and all. Truth be told, I'm not a super skater.

Maybe some of the spirit of the 70s was left behind in those second-hand skates, but at that moment I realized that I needed a fly 70s-style costume to go with my wheels. Check out the preliminary sketches of the costume that my alter ego would wear approximately 10 years later.
